The conference features six main topics, one main venue, six parallel venues, and a separate venue for graduate students.
Conveners: Zhang Jie, Zhou Pinggen, Zhang Guodong, Nicola Casagli
This session will discuss theoretical methods for early identification and risk assessment of geological disasters during the planning, design, construction, and operation stages of reservoirs. It will explore the application prospects of integrated monitoring technologies and multi-source information mining, aiming to establish efficient geological disaster warning models.
Conveners: Li Changdong, Wang Shimei, Tang Minggao, Dave Chan
This session aims to delve into how extreme rainfall events and unconventional reservoir water level control scenarios exacerbate the risks of geological disasters. It will analyze the response mechanisms of geological disasters to such extreme weather and water regulation conditions, with the goal of developing appropriate evaluation methods and criteria for disaster causation.
Conveners: Liu Xinrong, Deng Huafeng, Tang Minggao, Hossam Abeul-Naga
This session will analyze the deterioration patterns of the physical and mechanical properties of soil and rock masses along the reservoir slopes under long-term water immersion and periodic water level fluctuations. It will reveal the mechanisms by which deterioration in the drawdown zone induces reservoir slope instability and propose targeted prevention and control technologies.
Conveners: Zhang Limin (Hong Kong), Xu Chong, Huang Haifeng, Michel Nicolas Jaboyedoff
This session will explore how artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud computing technologies contribute to the early identification, monitoring, early warning, and intelligent management of reservoir geological disasters, enhancing the capacity and efficiency of disaster prevention and mitigation.
Conveners: Huang Yu, Nian Tingkai, Huang Bolin、Sabatino Cuomo
This session will investigate the mechanisms of chain geological disasters, such as waves and barrier lakes caused by landslides entering reservoirs and rivers. It will analyze the generation and propagation of waves in reservoirs, establish models for predicting wave impacts, and propose emergency strategies and control measures based on the structure of barrier lakes and the characteristics of reservoir water characteristics.
Conveners: He Siming, Wang Liangqing, Xiao Hai、Teuku Faisal Fathani
This session will discuss methods and key technologies for preventing and controlling various disaster characteristics, such as collapses, landslides, bank erosion, and debris flows along reservoir banks. It will focus on demonstrating and applying new methods and technologies and promoting them in practical engineering projects.
